The Harmony Academy Certificate for Leaders empowers leaders with the knowledge and skills to lead schoolwide, relationship-driven social and emotional learning (SEL) practices that promote student and adult learning, well-being, and belonging while simultaneously promoting career advancement for leaders. This Certificate provides educators with a structured professional learning pathway to become a skillful leader of the Harmony Academy resources, offering a comprehensive blend of theory and practice in SEL and elevating relationships within teaching and learning while also reminding leaders to focus on their own well-being and growth. The Harmony Academy Certificate for Leaders includes four micro-credentials:
Micro-credential 1: Leading Harmony and Building Organizational Readiness: This micro-credential will strengthen your understanding of the importance of schoolwide social and emotional learning (SEL) efforts and a leader's role in implementing schoolwide SEL. We begin this course by exploring the fundamentals of SEL and schoolwide SEL and reflecting on your personal development of social and emotional development and well-being. Subsequently, we delve into how to assess your school’s readiness to implement SEL and provide guidance on creating schoolwide teams to set and lead your school’s SEL vision. (16 Course Learning Hours)
Micro-credential 2: The Harmony Way: Aligning Data, Policies, & Practices: This micro-credential engages you to critically examine the policies, practices, data, and structures that shape your schoolwide social and emotional learning (SEL) implementation (see Micro-credential 1 for a deep dive into schoolwide SEL). By understanding how to assess and adapt policies — at the national, state, district, and school levels — and how to use multiple data sources, you will be better equipped to make informed decisions and mobilize successful SEL initiatives in your school community. Throughout this micro-credential, you will explore strategies for evaluating existing policies, creating new ones when necessary, and leveraging data to drive continuous improvement in your SEL programs. You will gain valuable insights and practical tools that empower you to lead with confidence, fostering an environment that supports the well-being and success of your students and staff. (18 Course Learning Hours)
Micro-credential 3: Moving in Harmony for the Educators and Students: This micro-credential invites you to explore strategies for fostering educator social and emotional learning (SEL) and well-being through schoolwide practices and structures and building educator SEL capacity for implementing the Harmony Curriculum. As educational leaders, you play a pivotal role in creating environments that prioritize students' and adults' social and emotional development and growth. Through this micro-credential, you will explore strategies and best practices to ensure Harmony becomes a way of being throughout the school community, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning community. (19 Course Learning Hours)
You have the option to earn the Harmony Academy Certificate of Recognition: Leader by completing Micro-credentials 1-3. Upon completion of the Harmony Academy Certificate of Recognition: Leader, you have the option to earn the Harmony Academy Certificate of Advanced Recognition: Leader by completing Micro-credential 4.
Micro-credential 4: Your Way Forward Toward Harmony Enhancement: Creating Harmony in your school community requires thoughtful planning of schoolwide social and emotional learning (SEL), leveraging Harmony Academy tools and resources as you create the polices, practices, and structures. In this Micro-credential, you will consolidate your learning from the previous micro-credentials to create a detailed implementation plan and presentation. The activities in this Micro-credential will prepare you to facilitate and nurture your own, your staff’s, and your student’s social, emotional, and academic growth across your school community. You will reflect on how you can lean into leader credibility to accelerate implementation and leverage your knowledge and skills to empower the adults and students in your community to co-create a harmonious learning environment.
